About Dr. Davis

Dr. Davis was licensed to practice psychology in the state of Montana in 1991.  Born and raised in Montana, Dr. Davis obtained a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Experimental Psychology at Montana State University prior to pursuing and obtaining his Ph.D. Degree in Professional Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1990. 

Dr. Davis provides forensic examination and testimony regarding: criminal competencies (e.g., adjudicative competence/fitness to proceed/competence to stand trial) and related issues (e.g., competence to waive Miranda rights, testamentary capacity, post-conviction competencies); criminal responsibility (e.g., negation of mens rea, insanity, diminished capacity); sentencing mitigation; civil commitment; parental capacity in abuse and neglect proceedings; and psychological damages in personal injury cases

Dr. Davis has been actively conducting forensic psychological examinations since 1991, he has conducted well over 200 forensic psychological examinations, he has been qualified as an expert witness in every case he has been called to testify in, and he has provided expert testimony in courts in several different Montana counties. 

Dr. Davis has also been an active speaker on topics related to both clinical and forensic psychology. Most recently Dr. Davis presented a day long workshop at the fall 2006 meeting of the Montana Psychological Association on the topic of Assessment of Adjudicative Competence in Montana.  A follow-up workshop for the fall 2007 Montana Psychological Association meeting on the topic of Assessment of Criminal Responsibility in Montana is currently in development.

Dr. Davis is a member of the American Psychological Association and is also a member of Division 41 (The American Psychology-Law Society) of the American Psychological Association.  Dr. Davis is also a member of the Montana Psychological Association and the American College of Forensic Psychology.
